Connect equitable economic development, mental health development with a holistic public safety and police reform plan to address the root issues of neighborhood safety
Introduce legislation to restructure CPD by ending qualified immunity for officers, limiting the use of force, demilitarizing the force, mandating bi-annual mental health screenings for officers, hiring trained social workers to respond to nonviolent disputes, and institute a forensic budget review
Advocate for enforcement of consent decree, through a partnership with Community Police Review board and for a permanent citizen’s review board as proposed by Citizens for a Safe Cleveland
Mandate police are trained in solution, relationship-oriented policing: utilize Cincinnati as a model for implementation
Focused deterrence: crime reduction strategy to stop gun violence that connects young people to mentoring and job training programs instead of prison (Boston, Governing Magazine and Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy)
